Sudan is Denied presidency of the African Union

Thanks to considerable pressure from within and outside the African Union, Sudan was denied the Presidency of the international body for the second consecutive year, due to concerns over its record on human rights, and the likely conflict that would be caused by having Sudan preside over the African Union while AU peacekeeping troops are currently in Darfur.
