damanga
praises wanted for war crimes campaign
February 29, 2008
The Damanga Coalition for Freedom and Democracy
praises the Wanted for War Crimes Campaign which has
gained the support of over 40 organizations to help
bring justice to Darfur. The Wanted for War Crimes Campaign
aims to pressure the UN to arrest and try two Sudanese
officials, Ahmed Haroun and Ali Kushayb, for crimes
against humanity. The two offenders were charged with
crimes including murder, mass rape, and torture a year
ago but the Sudanese government continues to shelter
them. At this time, Wanted for War Crimes urges the
UN to utilize economic sanctions against Khartoum to
pressure the government to hand the two criminals over
to the ICC. The Damanga Coalition for Freedom and Democracy
supports this campaign and is hopeful that Haroun and
Kushayb along with the 50 others responsible for war
crimes will be tried for their crimes immediately.
