damanga
applauds israel for sLM acceptance
March 05, 2008
The Damanga Coalition for Freedom and Democracy
is pleased that the Sudan Liberation Movement is opening
an office location in Tel Aviv, Israel. This move has
received strong criticism from the government of Khartoum
which does not have diplomatic relations with Israel.
However, members of the Sudan Liberation Movement as
well as internally displaced persons throughout Darfur
are grateful for the opportunity to have an office in
Israel and for the support from the Israeli government.
The political ties that are forming between the Israeli
government and the SLM are for the benefit of the Darfuri
refugees and to promote stability in Darfur. While Khartoum
is slandering the move and claiming that Israel’s
generosity has ulterior religious motives, the victims
of the genocide in Darfur are thankful for international
recognition and support. Damanga praises the Israeli
government for hosting the SLM office and encourages
other countries to extend their support as well. The
Damanga Coalition for Freedom and Democracy is hopeful
that this office will be influential in creating peace
in Darfur.
