Damanga
praises canadian foreign affairs minister maxime bernier
March 28, 2008
The
Damanga Coalition for Freedom and Democracy applauds
Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Maxime Bernier for
demanding that the Government of Khartoum help create
peace in Darfur or risk strained relations with Canada.
Bernier expressed the need for Khartoum to do more to
create a peace, implement the UNAMID mission, and stop
the humanitarian disaster in Darfur. If Sudan continues
to stall the peace process, Bernier threatened Canada’s
disinvestment from Sudan which would result in a major
cut in funding. The Damanga Coalition of Freedom and
Democracy is grateful for Bernier’s strong stance
and encourages other international leaders to take similar
positions. If the international community stands against
the Government of Khartoum, Sudan will have no choice
but to allow the implementation of UNAMID and stop the
genocide in Darfur.
