Peacekeeper Killed Again

On Wednesday July 16, 2008 it was reported that another peacekeeper had been killed in the area of Forobaranga in West Darfur while on patrol. This is the eighth peacekeeper that has been killed since the mission began last year. There is some fear that this attack may be just the beginning of a response to the indictment of Sudanese president Omar Al Bashir for crimes against humanity and genocide.
Damanga Coalition for Freedom and Democracy is saddened by the news of another peacekeeper killed. This is discouraging to the victims and advocates of Darfur who are working and hoping to see an end to the genocide. We hope that the killers of this peacekeeper are found and made to face the consequences of their irresponsible actions. We send out our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and pray that his soul rests in peace.
