In Memory of the Mumbai Victims

In light of the recent Mumbai attacks in India, The Damanga Coalition for Freedom and Democracy would like to send out its sympathy and condolences to all the victims, individuals, and families affected by the attacks. The killing of these innocent Indians, Americans, Jews, Europeans, and other individuals is both unfortunate and unacceptable: the international community must hold accountable those responsible for these murders and attacks.

Damanga would like to further acknowledge the numerous advocacy and charitable efforts of the Mumbai victims in regards to spreading awareness about the genocide in Darfur. Jewish, Christian, and other religious organizations, both in the United States and abroad, have been prominent leaders of the Darfur campaign. The Save Darfur Coalition, a collective of 150 faith-based advocacy and humanitarian organizations, was formed in part by the American Jewish World Service and has been a premier activist voice for Darfur. The "Million Voices for Darfur" campaign, Save Darfur's mission to send 1 million handwritten and electronic postcards calling on President Bush to support a stronger, multinational effort to protect Darfur residents, is only one of many of the coalitions' political and advocacy efforts (from the article "After Experience of Holocaust, Jewish Groups Out Front on Darfur"). Damanga, would, therefore, like to wholeheartedly thank the Jewish, Christian and other religious organizations and groups for their efforts on behalf of Darfur, and wish them all peace in their time of mourning for the Mumbai victims.
