Damanga Remembers Michael Jackson

Executive Director, Mohamed Yahya, remembers the 1980's when all Darfuri people were experiencing a massive famine for more than two years. Dozens of thousands died because of that starvation. Michael Jackson and other great singers in America and across the world did songs specially for Sudan and Darfur to raise money and they sent millions of Dollars and tons of food to save the lives of my people in Darfur. That was during the time of late president Ronald Reagan.

As a Darfuri refugee in the US, I must appreciate all those who sang for Darfur and Sudan that TIME SONG OF: "We are the World" In the campaign called " Sudan call".

Our deepest condolences for the tragic death of Michael Jackson, The king of Pop, for his support to my people in Darfur and all of Sudan at the time when another dictatorship reigned - former president Nimiry ruling Sudan 1969 - 1985.

Michael Jackson will be remembered by the people of Darfur and all over the world for his compassionate love and generosity. Our hearts goes to his beloved family and all American people.
