Sudanese Aircraft Bomb Furawiya Killing Two Victims

On Monday, June 1, 2009, Sudanese planes bombed a village in Darfur killing two civilians and injuring fifteen. The village is set in the Furawiya area which has recently been a location of heavy bombardment and violence.  Additionally, the Furawiya market was attacked and 70 sheep were slaughtered.  Since the area is located near the Chad border, the Sudanese government is blaming the Chadians for the violence. At this time, the Damanga Coalition for Freedom and Democracy is very disturbed by this news.  We continue to condemn the government attacks on innocent victims and stress the importance of stability and peace in the region.

Damanga and the people of Darfur ask the Obama administration to do more
for Darfur in this critical time. The government of Al-bashir must stop this campaign of bombing
the villages and targeting the Innocent people inside the Darfur Cities and Camps, and those who have also fled to Chad.
Damanga is also very concerned about the inaction of the US and the United Nations regarding the arrest of Al-bashir and the other suspects of war crimes, and crimes against Humanity. Nothing can be achieved without holding these criminals accountable. We need
the world leaders to support the ICC and work seriously to arrest these killers and bring them to justice
As soon as possible.
